"My Soul is Awakened" by Anne Bronte

My Soul is Awakened (or Lines Composed in a Wood on a Windy Day)
by Anne Brontë
My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring,
And carried aloft on the wings of the breeze;
For, above, and around me, the wild wind is roaring
Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas.

The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing,
The bare trees are tossing their branches on high;
The dead leaves beneath them are merrily dancing,
The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky.

I wish I could see how the ocean is lashing
The foam of its billows to whirlwinds of spray,
I wish I could see how its proud waves are dashing
And hear the wild roar of their thunder today!

  1. It really does capture the blustery day feeling!
    I always enjoy a good blustery day, especially when you go outside, and your hair is blowing in your face. Or when you are sitting inside, and the wind is so loud and strong you can practically feel it blowing through the house.

  2. That is EXACTLY how it feels! *Envies how perfectly you have described it* I love days like that even more than sunny days! :)

  3. aww, thanks!
    Sunny days are all nice when they aren't sweltering, but I agree. I love drinking tea and reading on blustery days, or going out on the swings and just letting the wind blow me about! It's so relaxing and meditative!
